The William L. Wilkie “Marketing for a Better World” Award honors thinkers who have significantly contributed to our understanding and appreciation for marketing’s potential to improve our world and from whose work notable advances have ensued – in the mold of Bill Wilkie of the University of Notre Dame.
The AMA Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Clifford Shultz has been selected as the 2023 William L. Wilkie “Marketing for a Better World” Award recipient!
Dr. Clifford Shultz is Professor and Charles H. Kellstadt Chair of Marketing in the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago and an International Fellow of the Harvard FETP / Fulbright University Vietnam. Dr. Shultz has expertise in marketing, policy and sustainable development in transforming economies. Among his projects are work to improve coffee production, branding, place-marketing and sustainability in Vietnam, to reclaim mine-laden fields in Bosnia and Cambodia, to initiate sustainable tourism, food marketing, and entrepreneurship in Croatia and similarly war-torn countries, and judicial reforms in Bangladesh. He is currently studying the global refugee crisis; sustainable food, water and energy in the Mekong River Basin; and peace-marketing initiatives in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Colombia, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Iraq and Ukraine.
Professor Shultz has over 250 publications in scholarly outlets internationally, as well as having written and edited numerous learned books and monographs. He has served as President of the International Society of Marketing and Development, as President of the Macromarketing Society, and for two terms was Editor of the Journal of Macromarketing. He has received numerous awards for his research, teaching and service. Reflecting the scope of his contributions, he has been invited to lecture at universities and research institutes, and to counsel governments, NGOs, multilateral agencies and businesses on six continents.
