American Marketing Association to Honor Outstanding Marketing Scholars
Awards to be Presented at the AMA Winter Academic Conference in February 2024
Chicago, IL—The American Marketing Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for several marketing academic awards. These awards recognize marketing visionaries who have elevated the field and support the next generation of marketers who will transform the profession.
“Our awards showcase the expertise of AMA’s scholarly community, they allow us to recognize our members and their outstanding work and contributions to the marketing industry,” said Bennie F. Johnson, CEO of AMA. “There are many individuals pushing the boundaries of marketing to explore innovative ideas and contributing meaningfully to the field. They are creating social impact and I’m excited to honor our award winners in the spring for their achievements.”
Nominations are currently open for the following academic awards:
John A. Howard/AMA Doctoral Dissertation Award—This honor recognizes excellent doctoral dissertations. Students completing the requirements for a doctoral degree in marketing and consumer behavior–related topics between October 1, 2022, and September 30, 2023, are invited to self-nominate.
Nomination Deadline: October 25, 2023
AMA-Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award—This prestigious award honors living marketing educators for distinguished service and outstanding contributions to marketing education. All marketing educators who have made sustained contributions to marketing over an extended period are eligible.

AMA Fellows—The distinction of “AMA Fellow” is given to members in good standing with the AMA who have made significant contributions to the research, theory and practice of marketing or the service and activities of the AMA over a prolonged period.

William L. Wilkie Marketing for a Better World Award—This award honors marketing thinkers who have significantly contributed to our understanding and appreciation for marketing’s potential to improve our world and from whose work notable advances have ensued—in the mold of Bill Wilkie of the University of Notre Dame.
Nomination Deadline: October 31, 2023
Erin Anderson Award for an Emerging Female Marketing Scholar and Mentor—This award recognizes emerging female marketing scholars and mentors while honoring and celebrating the life of Erin Anderson. The recipient will be a female marketing scholar anticipated to become a leading marketing academic in the mold of Erin Anderson.
Nomination Deadline: October 31, 2023
Robert Lusch Early Career Research Award—This award recognizes an early-career scholar who published an AMA Journal article. The article should be in a domain heavily influenced by Professor Lusch’s work: marketing channels, retailing, service marketing, consumer culture theory, transformative consumer research and innovation.
