About the Course
Businesses and articles regularly discuss making data-driven decisions or using data for “actionable insights”. The words “business intelligence” and “analytics” are in our everyday vocabulary, but honestly, there are a million definitions of what this can be and how it’s done. This course will sift through the buzzwords and identify the most important aspects of data, how to visualize that data and how to interpret those visualizations strategically to help your organization. This introductory discussion will help guide you toward the next steps in making your organization “data-driven”.

Lay the foundation with a baseline understanding of what data and analytics can provide and how they can be used.
Begin your data journey by determining your goals and understanding the data analytics life cycle.
Learn about the 3 different types of analytics and in what situations each is best to consider.
Level set why it is important to focus on data and analytics given the huge investment of time and energy to do it right.
Take a look at the most common marketing and advertising metrics and when you might focus on them.
Gain an understanding of the different channels and tools where you might gather the various different metrics and the types of data you might get.
Review some of the top business intelligence platforms to determine which tools can help you quickly access and analyze your data.
Look at data differently by using charts, graphs or infographics to visualize trends and gaps.
Focus on how to see the bigger picture and share access with others by setting up dashboards.
Complete the course by taking an ungraded Knowledge Check and reviewing additional opportunities to continue learning.

Chris is Vice President of Data Analytics, and Business Insights at Neil Patel Accel (NPAccel) Driving Data Management, Analytics Strategies, and Technical Architecture to Scale Optimized Enterprise Operations. Chris is also an Adjunct Professor at The University of Tampa, in Tampa, Florida and a former interrogator with the United States Army. Chris holds a BA in International Business with a focus on Management Information Systems from The University of South Florida and two Master’s Degrees from The University of Tampa: MS in Marketing with a focus on Marketing Analytics and a MBA.
