In mid-January, the Government of Indian announced the 2020 recipients of the nation’s highest civilian awards. AMA Fellow and long-time member, Professor Jagdish Sheth was among those honored with the Padma Bhushan Award.
The annual award recognizes distinguished service of the highest order across arts and sciences. Professor Sheth’s contributions to the Marketing discipline are powerful, including the development of many key subdisciplines, like the study of consumer behavior, relationship marketing, and emerging markets. He joins a select community considering the award as been presented to a venerable club of roughly 1,300 recipients spread over the last 70 years.

Jagdish Sheth is Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing in the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Professor Sheth is the author of numerous books and articles in leading journals that dramatically transformed marketing scholarship. His thought-leading research has moved the boundaries of the discipline nurturing the growth of core areas like consumer research, relationship marketing, and emerging markets. He has won several other honors from the American Marketing Association (AMA) and its special interest groups, including the AMA-Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award. He has also transformed the discipline via the Sheth Foundation, financially supporting marketing initiatives and scholarly endeavors throughout the world. In 2013 he was named an AMA Fellow.
